Maheen Khan is a Bangladeshi fashion designer who has been working with the country's traditional clothing. He is the founder and managing director of fashion house 'Mayasir'. [2] He is also associated with Art Council Dhaka.
Early life and education
Maheen Khan was born in a family that was associated with fashion designers. His father was involved in the textile industry in the fifties, which was not common in the region at that time, and his mother worked with the weavers of the country.[4] Maheen Khan received a bachelor's degree in textiles from Otis College of Art and Design, California, USA. [5] He then received a master's degree from Parsons School of Design, California, USA.
Working life
Maheen Khan started her career as Arang's Chief Design Coordinator in 1986.[1] In 2001, she left Arang and founded her own fashion house, Myasir Limited. Khadi, cotton cloth, silk cloth and muslin are used to make Mayasir clothes. Mayasir has its own garment factory.[1] Mayasir participated in Bridal Asia in New Delhi, India in 2008.He is also associated with the Arts Council Dhaka which deals with the ancient art of Bangladesh. He has visited various museums and galleries around the worldMaheen Khan writes for the women's portal 'Amhar Katha'. [1] In addition, she writes a regular column on design and traditional crafts in the Bangladeshi English newspaper The Daily Star. [5] She serves as the president of the Fashion Design Council of Bangladesh. .
